Marion Francis (b. 19 Nov 1869) married Alice A. Landon 12 Mar 1895; died near Burr Oak 16 Sep 1948. Jane (b. 22 Jun 1872) married Emil E. Ellingson 24 Dec 1901 in a double wedding with her brother, David; died nearSanish, ND25 Mar 1923. Edward Daniel (b. 15 Jan 1875) died of pneumonia near Burr Oak 28 Feb 1898. George M. (b. Dec 1878?) married Georgia L. Bovee 12 Apr 1904; became a widower 24 Nov 1920; in later years married Cecelia (last name unknown); died at Reed Point, MT 7 Feb 1944. David A. (b. 15 Aug 1879) married Alice Pollitt 24 Dec 1901; died 1 Jun 1923. Daniel Price and family moved from Pleasant Twp. to Burr Oak Twp. around 1875. Both Daniel and Nancy lived and worked on the Burr Oak farm for the rest of their lives. The Price farm was located on 160 acres in the southeast quarter of Section 27, Burr Oak Twp, along with an adjoining 79 acres in the northern half of Section 26. After suffering from heart problems for several months, Daniel passed away on the home farm on Friday, 29 Nov 1907 at 5:30 PM. He was buried in the Burr Oak Cemetery. Nancy lived on the farm with son Marion for several years after her husband’s death. She died at 9 A.M. 23 Feb 1923, on the farm near Burr Oak and was buried in the Burr Oak Cemetery next to Daniel and son Edward. Four of Daniel and Nancy’s descendants are still living in Winneshiek Co. and vicinity today (1996): great-grandson Daniel Arthur Price of Decorah and his brother, Dean M. Price, of Burr Oak; and great-granddaughter, Florence Price Erickson (daughter of Marion Price) who lives in a rest home in Mabel, MN. Price, Daniel Arthur and Ruth (Krumm) Price(William B. Price) Daniel Arthur “Art" Price was born in Burr Oak, Winneshiek Co, IA 30 Mar 1917, the oldest child of Henry Arthur and Lottie Diantha (Olson) Price of Burr Oak. Henry Price was born 24 Jan 1895, the son of Robert G. and Lillian (Yager) Price of Decorah. Lottie Olson was 8 Feb 1892, the daughter of Peter and Julia (Emery) Olson of Burr Oak. Daniel’s great-grandfather, also named Daniel Price, was a pioneer settler in Winneshiek Co., arriving from Pennsylvania with his uncle Robert Giffin in the sprinq of 1855. Daniel Arthur Price attended grade school at the Lost Nation school south of Burr Oak and graduated from Burr Oak High School on 22 May 1936. On 30 Jan 1942, Daniel A. Price was drafted into the U.S. Army and served overseas during World War II in the 117th Radio Signal Intelligence Company. He served nearly four years without a single furlough, during which time he was sent to North Africa, Italy, Corsica, France, Germany and Austria. His unit narrowly escaped entrapment by enemy forces during the Battle of the Bulge. On 12 Nov 1945 he received his discharge from the Army and returned to Burr Oak. Two weeks later, on 24 Nov 1945, he married Ruth Krumm, daughter of Louis G. and Alice (Slack) Krumm of near Burr Oak. Ruth Krumm was born 19 Mar 1916. Daniel and Ruth made their home on the Krumm farm in Section 35 of Burr Oak Twp where they lived and farmed for nearly 50 years. Daniel A. Price served on the Winneshiek Co. FHA committee for 3 years during the 1950’s and he has been a member of the Winneshiek Co. Farm Bureau for the past 50 years. Daniel and Ruth Price have two sons and five grandchildren. The sons are Daniel Roger of near Waverly, IA and William Boyd of Mission Viejo, CA. The grandchildren are Steven Daniel, Corey James, Darcy Ann, Rebecca Sue and Nicole Lee. On 22 Oct 1994, Daniel and Ruth sold their farm and moved to Decorah where they have been residing since. Price, Henry and Lottie (Olson)(William B. Price) Henry Arthur Price was born in Decorah, IA 24 Jan 1895, the eldest child of Robert Giffin and Sophia Lillian (Yager) Price. He was educated in the Decorah public schools but as a teenager left Decorah to live with his uncle Marion Price and grandmother Nancy Price of near Burr Oak. Henry farmed in the Burr Oak area for about 40 years, the majority of which was spent on the Price family farm on Sections 34 and 35 of Burr Oak Twp. Henry inherited the farm from his father’s great-uncle Robert Giffin, an early Winneshiek Co. pioneer. Henry was a member of the IOOF and Rebekah Lodge of Burr Oak. On 20 Sep 1916 Henry married Lottie Diantha Olson, the eldest child of Peter and Mary Julia (Emery) Olson of Burr Oak. Henry and Lottie had 2 children: Daniel and Dean. Daniel Arthur fb. 30 Mar 1917) married Ruth Krumm 24 Nov 1945. Dean Merrill fb. 24 Apr 1920) married Iona Young 14 Feb 1946. Lottie Olson was born 8 Feb 1892 in Cresco, IA. Her parents moved to Burr Oak while she was a young girl and Lottie spent the rest of her life in and around Burr Oak. She was a member of the Burr Oak Methodist Church for many years, as well as the United Methodist Women, the Rebekah Lodge and the Joan of Arc Club. Lottie kept a diary for the majority of her life, from at least 1914 to 10 Oct 1986, in which she faithfully chronicled family life and local events in the Burr Oak area for well over 70 years. Henry and Lottie retired from farming in the late 1940’s and moved to the former Peter Olson home in Burr Oak next door to Lottie’s sister and brother-in-law, Olive and Claude Wicks. Henry passed away in Smith Memorial Hospital in Decorah 15 Jun 1967 at age 72 after a few weeks illness. Lottie lived as a widow in Burr Oak for 20 more years, passing away 11 Oct 1986 in the Aase Haugen Home in Decorah at age 94.
